A bright and straightforward selling space for luggage and the little things that can make traveling a pleasure. The illuminated vaulted ceiling that is centered over the shop and visible obliquely through the glass front, draws the passerby in from the mall of the Westside Pavilion. Materials and surfaces are mostly neutrals—from gray to black—relieved with sharp, primary accents. Glass vitrines and freestanding museum cases bring the smaller pieces up to eye level inspection. Soft items—carriers and luggage—are hung or shelved on open mesh racks that invite touch and acquisition. The simple plan places some counters and display platforms on an angle to the rest of the rectangular plot of space, continuing the deflection of the display window. The project was published in Stores of the Year and served as a prototype for other locations by the same owner and design team.
