Yorba Linda Public Library

The 33-year-old central library for a city of 50,000, faced with the need for major interior functional reorganization and urgent need of additional space, was moved into temporary quarters on site while the 24,500 square foot building was gutted and totally reconfigured. The architects then added 6,000 square feet on three levels, and softened the starkly utilitarian exterior visage of the prominently located building. Totally replanned interiors provide comfortable and electronically advanced access to 100,000 volumes of books and electronic media, incorporating multiple computer stations and special children’s facilities, a used book store, and community room. Tremendous increase in patronage is the continuing result.
